“Model United Nations is an educational simulation of the United Nations. MUN conferences host a range of committees from General Assembly to the Economic and Social Council.”
It is my privilege to welcome you to the tenth edition of the LMCMUN! Over the previous decade, LMCMUN has catered to a diverse group of young delegates who are passionate about mastering International Relations and diplomacy. Every year, the secretariat aims at refining the delegate experience and this being our tenth edition, we hope our endeavors set the bar higher than ever.
‘Peace is not the absence of conflict but our ability to handle it lawfully’
In a world where tensions upscale at miniscule events, it is safe to say that the world’s diplomats are walking a very fine line. We are simulating seven engaging committees this year as well and their dynamics and discourse quality will put delegates in the shoes of those international diplomats in totality. Our seven committees span across a broad timeframe ranging from the Great War to the present day International Organisation for Migration. Diverse geopolitics have been encompassed by the Bandung Conference deliberating Non-Alignment of the Third World while the African Union brings into focus the one of the largest and most disputed continent.
The mono-aim of LMCMUN 2019 since its inception has been to serve as a prolific pedestal for delegates to learn contemporary international politics but at the same time provide them with an pleasant experience. Hence, we hope that you leave La Martiniere on the 13 th of May with greater knowledge, new friends and a ton of fond memories.
La Martiniere Calcutta Model United Nations is a three-day simulation of international relations for high school students held annually in May. At LMCMUN, we seek to give the delegates an insight into the missions and working of the United Nations as well as the dynamics of international diplomacy by simulating both UN and specialized committees. LMCMUN is a brilliant platform and an exciting opportunity for students to deliberate on issues that have or had confronted the leaders and draft resolutions in response to these global issues. Above all, LMCMUN is a platform where the delegates can interact and work with other pupils who are equally motivated about responding to global concerns.
With a decade of experience and success, LMCMUN 2019 is a culmination of years of gradual refinement. Since its inception, the conference has only expanded in both size and diversity. Nonetheless, we are fully committed to ensuring that this year is bigger and better than ever.
